How Peugeot keys work
Most Peugeots on the road have a flip key: the blade springs out at a press and the remote locks the doors, with a dedicated boot button on some models. A transponder chip recognised by the immobiliser unit allows the engine to start. Recent 208, 2008, 3008 and 5008 models can have hands-free entry and start, with a backup key stored inside the fob. The 108 was developed with the Toyota Aygo and Citroën C1, and its key is close to theirs. On the van side, the Partner and Rifter use Peugeot electronics, the Expert was developed with Citroën and Toyota, and the Boxer shares its base with the Fiat Ducato. A split rubber button lets dust and moisture in, which eventually damages the circuit board. Making a spare while the key still works avoids an emergency opening and programming job.

Your questions
My 308 remote no longer unlocks but the car starts, what should I do?
The immobiliser chip works, so the problem is in the remote part: a worn battery, damaged contact or lost synchronisation. Change the battery first. If that is not enough, we check the key and reprogram or replace it depending on its condition, without touching what already works.
Can a spare be made for a Boxer or an Expert?
The method depends on the vehicle’s base: the Boxer shares its design with the Fiat Ducato, the Expert with the Citroën Jumpy and Toyota Proace. Give us the year and chassis number: we check the key and tools required, then send you a free quote tailored to your van.
