How Chevrolet keys work
Chevrolet keys follow two lineages. The Matiz and early Spark, inherited from Daewoo, have a bladed transponder key, sometimes with a separate or built-in remote depending on the trim. Recent Aveo, Cruze, Orlando, Captiva and Trax models, developed with General Motors electronics, mostly use a flip key similar to Opel’s: the chip in the head is recognised by the immobiliser and the remote handles locking. On these flip keys, the button that releases the blade and the hinge pin are the first to fail, along with the battery contacts. As original parts become scarce since the brand left, a compatible new shell often saves electronics that still work. If all keys are lost, the chassis number (VIN) helps identify the right blade and remote frequency for your model.

Your questions
Where can I get a key for my Chevrolet Cruze now that the brand has left Belgium?
A Cruze key can still be made outside the dealer network: the blade is cut, then the new key is programmed to the car through the diagnostic socket. If only the shell of your current key is damaged, its electronics can often be moved into a new casing. Send us the year and chassis number for a free quote.
My Chevrolet Spark key has no remote, can one be added?
Depending on the year and trim, some Spark models came without remote central locking. In that case a remote key will only start the car, nothing more. If the car has the receiver, a key with a remote can be programmed. The easiest way is to give us the chassis number so we can check the equipment.
