How Lancia keys work
The Musa is the twin of the Fiat Idea, the 2008 Delta shares its base with the Fiat Bravo and the 2011 Ypsilon uses that of the Fiat 500 and Panda: their keys follow directly from these. You will find a bladed transponder key, with or without a remote, or a three-button flip key depending on the trim. The tricky part with Lancia is less the electronics than the parts: since the brand refocused on Italy, shells with the Lancia logo have become scarce, and a compatible new shell may have a slightly different shape or logo while working the same way. When the flip blade jams or the buttons crumble, the original electronics can often be moved across. If all keys are lost, the chassis number (VIN) confirms the exact generation, which helps because several Ypsilon series look alike.

Your questions
Original Lancia key shells are no longer available, what can I do?
A compatible shell made for the equivalent Fiat key can take the electronics and chip from your Lancia key. The shape or logo may vary slightly, but it works exactly the same. The blade is cut from your current key, or from the key code if it is too worn.
My Lancia Musa no longer starts with my key, is it the chip?
It is a common cause when the starter turns but the engine does not fire, or stalls straight away with the immobiliser light on. Try the second key: if it starts, the first key has a chip or head fault and can be replaced. If neither starts, a diagnostic check is needed.
How much does a spare Lancia key cost?
