How Iveco keys work
Depending on the generation, the Iveco Daily uses a bladed transponder key, with a fixed or flip blade, with or without a built-in locking remote depending on the version. In every case, the chip in the head is recognised by the vehicle’s immobiliser, and a simple blade copy will not start the engine. On a site or delivery van, the key takes a beating: heavy keyrings that wear the blade and the ignition barrel, crushed buttons, a head cracked after a fall. A badly rounded blade can also damage the lock barrel; it is better to have it recut from the key code before the ignition wears out too. The Eurocargo, a distribution truck, has its own electronics: feasibility is checked with the chassis number (VIN). For a fleet, note which key belongs to which vehicle and keep one spare per van.

My Iveco Daily key forces in the ignition, should I replace the key or the ignition?
Start with the key: a worn blade is the most common cause. A blade recut from the key code gets a clean profile back and eases the strain on the barrel. If the new key forces too, the ignition is worn. Try the second key if you have one; it helps decide.
A driver lost the key to our Daily, should the old one be disabled?
It is advisable if someone else might find the lost key. When a new key is programmed, the registered keys can be reviewed so that the lost key no longer starts the vehicle, depending on what the model allows. Bring all the remaining keys so they are kept.
How much does a spare Iveco key cost?
